It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to write a post about gratitude!

Okay – now for today’s post:
I am a lover of lists. I am surrounded by them. I have a grocery list, countless to-do lists, lists for books that I want to write, lists for posts I want to get to, lists for websites that I can’t wait to read, lists for books to check out, etc. You get the picture – I am a list person.
Lately it seems as though the lists are piling up around me, and the to-do lists are far outweighing the rest. So I thought it would be fun to balance things out a little bit by having each of us create a happy list that focuses on how much we are rocking in our lives.
We’ll call it our Good Things list.
It will be a running list that we keep nearby, and each time we do something great, we’ll write it down. It could be a big thing or a little thing. It could be something we accomplished, feel good about, or love ourselves just a little bit more for. It could be something really amazing that we did for someone else, a project that we finished and feel great about, a great dinner that we made, or the fact that we took an hour for ourselves during the day to read our favorite book, etc. Anything at all! The only rule is that we have to be the focus of it – this is our way of patting ourselves on the back.
Why does this list matter?
The purpose of this list is to help each of us see in black and white how wonderful we truly are. It will give us a positive boost each time we write in it and also each time we go back and read it. It will show us how far we have come on our journey toward our truest selves. It will prove to us that we are just as amazing as we already knew we were.
Sometimes when we are so caught up in the busyness of life and the to-do lists that have to be done, it’s hard to see how many great leaps we are taking – how many strides we are achieving.
By having this running list capturing each positive moment, we will know without a doubt that we rock, we are amazing, and we are leaping forward into our ideal lives.
This list definitely isn’t something to stress over. So if you forget to write something down, please don’t feel bad about it. Just keep it around you and each time you think of something great that happened in your life, jot it down.
I am so grateful that in the midst of so many to-do lists and endless check lists, we can create our own Good Things list and pay attention to how much we are rocking our lives!
I really like this idea! I also keep lists. They have become my lifeline.
Thanks – they are definitely my lifeline, too. I’m off to read your No Bake Cookie post now… yum! 🙂
Lovely post, Jodi. I do this in my head but had never thought of writing it down!
Same here! But then I have a hard time remembering everything in my head, which is where all of my lists come into play. I thought it would be fun to have a happy list to look at for a change. 🙂
Great idea Jodi! I am also a person who is always writing lists. You have suggested a very important list here. As the saying goes ” Gratitude is the best attitude.” My best wishes to you.
