Letting Go of the Dream

Sometimes we want something so badly, and we work so hard to get it. We struggle and sweat and pour our entire beings into it until it happens, it’s reality, and it’s part of our world.
And sometimes it’s completely worth it, and it’s exactly what we hoped it would be.
If it’s a job we fought hard to get – we saw ourselves in this position, and now that we are here we see that it’s even better than we hoped it would be.
If it’s a relationship that we yearned for – we met that special someone and are living in happily ever after every day.
If it’s a pair of shoes that we saw in the store window that we just knew would be perfect for that new outfit we just bought – and sure enough, we tried them on and they fit better than we even imagined they would.
And it’s wonderful when life works out like this. It’s amazing when everything fits together in a perfect package with the most beautiful bow on top. We deserve this life – we are worth having everything fall into place where it can flow easily.
And we are also worth recognizing if and when things stop flowing and start bringing us down. It’s okay to let go of a dream, relationship, job, or anything else if it no longer fits us.
Not everything is going to feel exactly like we hoped it would when it was just a dream. But if you don’t go for your dream, you will never know.
And sometimes it will feel exactly right at first – or even for awhile. And then one day you wake up and realize that you have grown out of it. It’s no longer your dream.
When this happens (if it happens), take a deep breath and begin to let this dream go.
Begin the process of moving on. Take the experiences with you – take the lessons with you – and move forward to your next dream knowing how truly grateful you were to have gone for it and lived with it and be on the other side of it now.
If your dream no longer feels like your dream, know that it’s more than okay to let it go.
There are plenty more out there, and I know that you’ll find another one that fits you and feels just right for where you are right now in this moment.

Pushing Through the Obstacles

Sometimes we are on a roll in our lives where everything feels like it’s going really well and flowing effortlessly.
And then we add something new – something that is out of the norm from our every day life. We stretch a little bit out of our comfort zone and expect things to continue flowing.
And sometimes they do.
But sometimes we come across obstacles where we didn’t expect them to be.
Sometimes we even come across road blocks that seem to be right in the way of reaching our dreams.
When this happens, take a look at these obstacles and notice where they are coming from and what messages they are conveying.
Are they coming from fear – is our ego stepping in and warning us that it might be scary to try new things?

Are they coming from outdated beliefs that we have about achieving success and finding true happiness?

Or maybe we haven’t stretched our adventure muscles in awhile and just need more practice.
Over the past week, I have been writing my book, and I have stumbled upon many obstacles – some that I had a feeling would show up and others that I’ve been surprised by.
And while I recognize them for what they are (old fears and distractions coming up to keep me comfortable), I still have to work through them and move them aside. This dream is too big to allow anything to stand in my way.
I was listening to a powerful telesummit yesterday with Jack Canfield where he was talking about how we can live our ideal life – even with the obstacles.
He brought up the great point that we are always going to have obstacles – but our response to these obstacles is entirely our choice.
We get to choose our thoughts, which means we also get to choose our outcome.
So the next time we are reaching for our dream and we come across an obstacle – take some time to go within and try to get to the bottom of the message it brings up. And then thank it for showing up and teaching you more about yourself, and either push through it or go around it. Keep moving forward.
We are all learning lessons every day. And with each lesson, we are all getting closer and closer to our truest self – our divine soul.
And every obstacle and road block is helping us do just that. They are also great tools to show us just how passionate we are about achieving our dreams and living our ideal life.
Every obstacle we push through and every barrier we eliminate
leads us closer to our dreams.

Dream It. Act On It. Live It. Enjoy It.

Have you ever said you were going to do something that you really wanted to do – that you really needed to do for yourself – something that nurtured your spirit and felt so right – and then life got busy, and your declaration of self care turned into a pipe dream – pushed aside for another day?
There is something very sacred about honoring our word to ourselves, especially when it involves self care.
Usually when we dream or say things that seem far fetched, it’s our higher self reminding us that we matter – that our needs are just as important as our loved ones. It’s our inner wisdom letting us know that we can go for our dreams – even if they seem far in the distance at the moment.
Just one action a day will lead you that much closer to realizing your dreams.
I have been feeling an inner pulling for the last several months – my inner voice has been telling me that I need to take time off from production to focus on writing. My higher self has assured me that this is exactly what I need to do – and I feel it with every part of my soul.
This seemed like a distant dream when I first started thinking about it several months ago. Taking a month off to write seemed so luxurious and decadent. And it didn’t help that my worrying self kept popping up to tell me all of the reasons why this may not be a good idea – we make our living from the orders we receive, and if we put a halt on production, how will we live?
And then I remembered why faith is crucial when a dream is so new and fragile.
I remembered that my higher self would not lead me astray.
I remembered that in order to live my ideal life – the life that I was born to live – I would have to take risks and get out of my own way sometimes.
And so it is.
We are taking one month off to write starting on May 18th.
And I’m so excited to see where it leads!
Spend some time today thinking about your own dream.
Have you been pushing it back and not allowing it to blossom?
What is one thing you can do today to take action and lead you closer to making this dream your reality?
Dream it. Act on it. Live it. Enjoy it.

The Power of Visualization

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to write a post about gratitude!

Feel free to click here (or below) to learn more about our Gratitude Project.
Okay – now for today’s post:
Today I am most grateful for the power of visualization.

Seeing it in action in someone else’s life inspires me and gives me the spiritual kick in the pants that I need to get focused and create it in my own life.

I was watching a tv show last night called, “The Lottery Changed My Life.”
It features people who have won the lottery and talks about all of the ways in which their lives have changed since winning. Usually the winners just talk about how they were lucky and just happened to get the winning ticket.
But last night’s winner was different, and I literally got chills when I heard her story.
Before winning, she was desperately trying to make ends meet financially. Her brother had been killed in a tragic accident and left behind his four children. She had been trying to adopt them all, but two of them were still in foster care. She said that her mom believed in the power of visualization and had passed that along to her.
So one night she wrote $112,000,000 on a piece of paper and put it underneath her pillow. She meditated while feeling how truly wonderful it would be to have this money. She knew with it she would be able to adopt her two nephews and would no longer worry about money. She acted as though she already had the money and thought about how she would spend it and what she would do with it.
And three weeks later she won the lottery for $112,000,000.
Amazing.
Chills.
Wonderful.
And while it is all of these things, it also makes perfect sense.
We attract into our lives what we think about and what we believe we deserve.
When we align our thoughts and our emotions – the sky is the limit.
This story is a great motivator for all of us to think about the life that we want to live and then truly take the time to feel it.
Because by doing so, it will become your reality.
And knowing that we each have the power to create our best lives
is definitely something to be grateful for!

Your OWN Show…

I love Oprah’s new network, OWN. I have admired her since I was young and grew up watching her show. I love how she has evolved into using her show to inspire and show us all how we can live our best lives.
In one of the new shows on OWN, lucky viewers were chosen to compete for their own show. It was a great show to watch and see what each person wanted to share with the world – what they thought their strengths were – and how they chose to inspire people. It just ended a few days ago with Oprah choosing the winner and offering a great surprise! (I won’t say what that is if you haven’t seen it yet and want to watch.)

It got me thinking about my own life and if I had the opportunity to have my own show, what would it be about? It’s fun to dream about this, and it really got me to focus on what I see as my life’s purpose – what is the message that I want to share with everyone – why am I here – how can I help others – what do I see as my strengths, etc?

While I would still like to take some more time to journal about this and dream a bit more, I know that my show would be very similar to our Soulful Journals and this blog. I feel that I am living my dream right now by being able to write these books, which are inspiring others to go within and get to know themselves. It would be wonderful if my show could have a panel of mentors/experts in all sorts of categories (relationships, finances, work, etc.) who are succeeding and living their dreams. They could teach/show the viewers (and maybe one specific guest each week) how they did it and how you can, too. It would be about realizing that our thoughts become our reality – and give us tools each week on how we can create a positive life by thinking positive thoughts and showing our gratitude daily.

So today it might be fun to you to do the same. Imagine that Oprah is offering you your very own show on her new network. You have complete freedom to create the show of your dreams – anything you want to do is possible.

What would your show be called?
What would it be about?
How would you help or inspire others through your show?
How would this show relate to your life’s purpose?
How would this show cater to your strengths?
How can you apply this dream to your day-to-day life?
How can it help to focus you to live the life you are meant to live?
Have fun dreaming today – and who knows, it may just become reality someday!
